The IIMHC is set to host some of the world’s greatest speakers, health professionals, clinicians, lecturers and authors inspired to share with you their clinical knowledge and experience on working with people in the area of mental health and emotional trauma.
At any given time, this event couldn’t be any more relevant to what we as a global nation endure privately and publicly with mental health.
The unspoken pain and trauma of individual lives adding to the pre-existing trauma that many carry throughout life has certainly deepened the intensity of the emotional experience.

Welcome to IIMHC. The 3rd Installment of a month-long online symposium on mental health and emotional empowerment.
An event catered for health professionals who are interested in learning, refining and understanding the depth of the human psyche and the principles of human behaviour and self-development.
A place that gathers industry leaders from different cultures and walks of life sharing their wisdom, clinical experience and integrative knowledge and whom are at the forefront of both classical and modern understanding of mental health, emotional trauma and personal empowerment.
There is a strong focus on integrative work bridging the gap between classical east asian and modern view on mental health and emotions.
We work through collaboration to train, enhance and uplift practitioner skill and competency with effective traditional and integrative therapies whilst promoting and elevating our profession to invest in the mental health of all people.
"It was an honour to be part of the first IIMHC. Sohial was efficient, straightforward and supportive, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. It was a privilege to be speaking alongside so many esteemed colleagues. I highly recommend it as an experience."

"I was honored to present at The International Integrative Mental Health Conference this year. The conference gathered an amazing array of world-renowned practitioners, innovators and visionaries, who each brought their own unique perspective to this important conversation. I came away hopeful and inspired, with new ideas and practical tools to apply to my own work in the field."
- Lore Dechar
"As a participant and speaker of IIMHC I was very impressed by not just the event and the speakers involved, but by Sohial’s impeccable organizational skills. It is not easy to gather speakers from various different time zones, yet the conference went smoothly and I had a blast presenting and listening to the other prominent speakers."
- Ivan Zavala
"Just a few words to thank Sohial for the complex project he has imagined and developed and for the opportunity he has given to colleagues and students (and the related benefit to the patients).
It was a very interesting opening for myself: I have appreciated the chance to listen to other voices, and to be able to reach many different participants. I would recommend any similar Conference to practitioners who are interested in learning and broadening their view."
- Dr. Elisa Rossi, M.D.
"I found your conference to be well organized, well marketed, well attended, and it was an absolute pleasure and honor to have been a part of it. Your participation as a host exemplified professionalism and your leadership in putting the conference together aptly identified and successfully executed a much-needed event on mental health. I'd be happy to team up again at any time."
- Ross Rossen
"Thanks for hosting a great conference."
- Evan Rabinowitz
"I tremendously enjoyed participating in The International Integrative Mental Health Conference. Sohial was a most congenial host and brought together a stellar team of like-minded colleagues and practitioners with different backgrounds and expertise from all over the world. Many topics that are relevant in the modern practice of Chinese medicine (but rarely discussed elsewhere) were explored in multifaceted presentations and roundtable discussions. I highly recommend participation when the Conference comes round again next year!"
- Heiner Fruehauf
"I had a fun time presenting, thank you for the opportunity!!!
Thank you Sohial, it was my absolute pleasure and honor to be a speaker at the International Integrative Mental Health Conference. The audience was just fantastic and everything ran smoothly with the platform:) I am proud to be a part of such a fantastic international event and I hope my presentation can help practitioners treat insomnia and addiction successfully in their communities!"

"It was a great pleasure to participate in the IIMHC this year, thanks to Sohial Farzam's outstanding organizational skills, engaged presence, and skillful, gentle moderation. What a gem he is, and how lucky we all are to be able to connect across continents in this way, to discuss such an esoteric yet important and deep topic! The concluding discussion that I got to participate in with Rebecca Avern was just great fun and inspirational! And came as close to a genuine heart-to-heart connection between all the participants as is possible in an online forum. I am honored to have been invited, and so grateful to Sohial for facilitating this gathering and pulling it off in such an elegant, compassionate, heart-filled manner, all the way to the very last minute!"
- Sabine Wilms
"I was honored to be asked to participate as a speaker in the 2023 IIMHC and really enjoyed the experience. I can see why Sohial has a second career as a professional coach. He is organized, efficient and a pleasure to work with. I learned a lot just by observing his marketing strategies. He invited an impressive array of teachers, and it was a rich experience to listen to their seminars. I recommend future IIMHC gatherings to all my professional colleagues."

Karen is an accomplished Chinese medicine practitioner and a direct lineage holder of the Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis System. She has 30 years of clinical experience gained in both the USA and Australia.
Her style of practice is influenced by long-term mentor Dr Leon Hammer, MD, renowned Chinese medicine practitioner, physician and child psychiatrist. During their 27 years together, she inherited the Menghe-Ding pulse method and the model of Chinese medical psychology defined by Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies (Hammer, 2005). These teachings were foundational in her non-pathologizing approach to medicine and provided an awareness of
the subtle but distinctive energy transformations that result from our individual human experience. And how physiology manifests these patterns that can be accessed on the pulse. Her Classical approach of Jing Fang herbal prescription has been guided by her studies with Professors Heiner Fruehauf and Huang Huang.
Karen’s academic experience and contribution to the profession include doctoral studies evaluating the reliability of pulse diagnosis; co-authoring a Handbook of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis; lecturing at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine NY, the University of Technology, Sydney, and the University of Western Sydney; publishing in peer review journals; presenting at conferences and teaching pulse diagnosis classes in China, USA, Australia, and New Zealand.
Currently her practice is based in Sydney, Australia. As a senior Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis instructor Karen continues to share her knowledge and experience in pulse diagnosis and Chinese medicine psychology. More recently she has taken that beyond the Chinese medicine field introducing pulse diagnosis to medical practitioners, and Classical Chinese medicine
concepts to physiotherapists and business leaders.
through pulse diagnosis
The pulse tells a storyline that bypasses consciousness and established narratives and communicates a persons’ true homeostatic needs. Interpreting these sensations permits not only insight into basic physiology but allows us to understand the psycho-emotional modus
operandi of the person and can also indicate the impact of past and present traumas. Empowered with this knowledge in the clinic we consider the entire energetic being of a person (psychological and physical), we can formulate our strategies, treat with integrity and
enact effective lasting change.
In this presentation Karen will present the basic scaffold theory of the Shen-Hammer pulse system with discussion focusing on the presentation of psycho-emotional conditions on the pulse. A case presentation will show-case this system in action.

Of the “Five Emotions” and “Seven Passions” affecting an otherwise healthy person, prolonged sadness and grief are said to have the most profound and destructive effects which could even lead to death.
Grief is in fact a form of retained sadness, when prolonged it may become extremely harmful.
The Lung in its function of State Minister is in charge of the exchange with the outer world, managing the circulation of Ying-nourishing and Wei-defensive energies. Retained sadness will disrupt these functions as well as blocking the chest and the expansive movement of the Heart.
The disharmony of Lung will further impact on the “Po-Corporeal soul” with a diminished instinct of “Self-preservation” and on the “Shen-Spirit” with a loss of “Joy” and “Passion for life”.
In this presentation we will explore:
The dynamics of Mourning;
The combined effects of Sadness, Grief and Guilt;
Using other emotions to cover up Grief
The importance of “Tears”
Acupuncture strategies for releasing sadness, grief and shock
The role of the Luo channels
Acupuncture for helping to “Let go”
Cultivation of the mind in relation to loss

Her continued study of the medical, Confucian and Taoist Classics as made her known as an expert on classical Chinese Medical texts. Elisabeth is invited to teach and lecture throughout the world in small gatherings, universities and large symposiums. She is known for her authentic approach and humble explanations of the Chinese classical texts. Elisabeth works to help each student engage with the classical language and develop a deeper understanding on how these teachings can develop their art, invigorate thought and raise their vision and conduct. She has written over twenty books and continues to publish to this day.
Emotions can nourish our lives when they are in the right measure at the right time. Too intense, lasting too long or coming at the wrong time, they drain our vitality.
Looking at how traditional Chinese medicine considers and treats emotions, according to its own approaches (and not the Western one), helps to better understand how to conform to the model of harmony it proposes.
Every emotion is a movement of the Heart and an aspect of Qi. All emotion is seen fundamentally as that which pushes Qi in one direction or another, with measured or with excessive or untimely force; which makes the difference between life-nurturing and life-destroying emotions.
Agreement with circumstances and moments in time is always taken into account. Emotions nurture life when they are in synch with the Qi of the moment.
For nurturing life with emotions, we analyze and identify the emotions for what they are : a disorder in the movement of Qi, and unbalance in the yin yang. Then we put back the Qi in their natural interactions, according to models developed by observing these movements in natural phenomena of all kinds.
The treatment is therefore a reorganization of Qi movements, according to the organs whose movement is disturbed. The transformation induced by this realignment is initiated and inspired by the practitioner and carried out by the patient. Or it is the result of inner work on oneself.

In the realm of mental health, Tung's Extra Points are employed to address conditions such as anxiety, depression, and emotional imbalances. The protocols from Michael Chung are directly linked to his master and teacher Dr. Wei Chieh Young whom is a direct disciple of Master Tung himself. Michael's clinical experience has showed a strong correlation and effect on including points that are specifically selected to balance the body's Yin and Yang energy, harmonize the heart and mind, and release emotional blockages. For instance, the "Heart Gate" point is frequently used to soothe the heart and alleviate anxiety, while the "Peaceful Sleep" point is effective in calming the mind and reducing symptoms of depression. By integrating Tung's Extra Points into acupuncture protocols, practitioners can offer a holistic and personalized approach to improving mental well-being and enhancing overall quality of life and positively impacting stress levels.

Dr. Georgia Ede is an internationally recognized expert in nutritional and metabolic psychiatry. Her twenty-five years of clinical experience include twelve years at Smith College and Harvard University, where she was the first psychiatrist to offer students nutrition-based approaches to mental health conditions.
Dr. Ede co-authored the first inpatient study of the ketogenic diet for serious mental illness, developed the first medically accredited course in ketogenic diets for mental health, and is a recipient of the Baszucki Brain Research Fund’s Metabolic Mind Award. Her bestselling new book Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind was recommended by the New York Times Book Review as among the three best mental health books of 2024.
For 75 years we have thought of mental health problems as “chemical imbalances” to be treated with medications—medications that don’t bring enough relief to enough people, and often at the expense of side effects such as sleepiness, weight gain, and sexual side effects.
The exciting new field of metabolic psychiatry is reimagining mental health problems as brain metabolism problems. This new paradigm is changing the way we think and feel about mental health conditions of all kinds and opening the doors to powerful and empowering new treatment options that are simple, safe, and accessible to everyone.
The breakthrough realization of our time is that robust mental health requires robust metabolic health—and robust metabolic health begins with a brain-healthy diet.
People worried about their mental health need to know that changing their diet could help them in ways NO MEDICINE can—the key is understanding which changes to make—and they’re NOT the ones we’re used to hearing about.
Dietary changes can be powerful tools in the treatment of psychiatric conditions—but which dietary changes are most worth making, and why? In the past decade, two exciting new subspecialties within the field of psychiatry have emerged: nutritional psychiatry, focused primarily on the therapeutic potential of the Mediterranean diet, and metabolic psychiatry, focused primarily on the therapeutic potential of the ketogenic diet. How can two such different diets both be good for the brain? We will review the clinical evidence in support of both dietary philosophies, and then measure both ways of eating against newly proposed brain-healthy diet criteria.
When you combine the truth about brain food with the cutting-edge science of brain metabolism, you get a powerful (and empowering!) recipe for optimal mental health.

IIMHC is set to host some of the world’s greatest speakers, health professionals, clinicians, lecturers and authors inspired to share with you their clinical knowledge and experience on working with people in the area of mental health and emotional trauma. The timing of this event couldn’t be any more relevant to what we as a global nation endure privately and publicly in the space of mental health. The unspoken pain and trauma of individual lives adding to the pre-existing trauma that many carry throughout life has certainly deepened the intensity of the emotional experience.
The history of mental health in conventional medicine and its development throughout time has been quite bleak. It is common understanding and observation that prescribing psychiatric medication for even the faintest and mildest error in thinking or emotional ups and downs is usually the common approach to servicing patients.
Although at times, the need for conventional psychiatric help and medication may be pertinent and necessary in extreme cases, it is through understanding, connecting and acknowledging those in mental health distress and that of their influential upbringing that seems to really take good effect in treatment and healing. Acknowledging and including the workings of many great and influential conventional health professionals is an aim for IIMHC for purposes of unifying and integrating medical advice that will benefit others.
The vision of this conference is to acknowledge and bring greater attention to the incredible and powerful impact that Chinese Medicine and Integrative healing modalities whether it be acupuncture, herbs, body movement and breath (such as tai qi, qi going, martial arts), stone medicine, plant essential oils as well as other allied medical interventions have on positively and effectively influencing change and healing for psycho-emotional conditions.
IIMHC will be a platform for industry leaders to share their breakthrough solutions to help you help your clients and those close to you to transform and transcend: trauma to liberation, pain to wisdom, adversity to resilience, suffering to higher consciousness.
IIMHC envisions uniting health professionals and students from all around the globe bringing a unified field of energy, knowledge, collaboration and healing.
This will be a global platform for healers and contributors to share an understanding of the many facets of the human psyche and the many ways the impact of physiological, psychological, biological, chemical, sociological and environmental changes can have on our inner workings which shape and modify our outer behaviour.
IIMHC was founded and is organised by Sohial Farzam, an Australian registered and practicing Emotional Wellbeing Acupuncturist for 23+ years. Sohial’s personal interest and inspiration in the area of mental health and emotional trauma specifically has been his line of work and clinical experience for the past 15 years.
As a long-term ex-lecturer at the Endeavour College of Natural Health (formally known as the Australian College of Natural Medicine) and an international speaker on emotional trauma, Sohial developed connections with like-minded practitioners who share the same passion and love for helping clients experience personal and rapid transformations in their mental wellness journey.
Sohial’s main area of speciality is in Psycho-Emotional imbalances and emotional empowerment. He is a well-known practicing acupuncturist in Australia and he currently presents many seminars on psychological and mental health conditions all around Australia, New Zealand, Europe and USA.
He has a special interest in human psychology, human behaviour, neuroscience, quantum physics and philosophy. He integrates all these study angles into Chinese Medicine concepts to fully understand the dynamics of the psyche. By helping to enhance the awareness and understanding of the true and brilliant nature of the psyche, along with his ability to deliver and communicate such concepts to be applied and understood clinically, Sohial has been able to dramatically help his clients with deep breakthroughs from long term mental health challenges. Sohial also helps practitioners with ever expanding shifts in their perception and understanding of mental health and disease.
His primary work in viewing emotional trauma is aligned to the nature and intelligence of the body and psyche in that emotions are signals and cues to a greater purpose and lesson rather than suffering and pain. He argues that emotional trauma serves a purpose in re-aligning people to a more innate way of living…one that is congruent to the value structures of each individual, but one that was deviated due to subordination likely from guilt and shame (early upbringing).
In his work, Sohial has observed four phases of transformation that people experience – these are liberation, breakthrough, elevation and mastery. In other words, and in the great words of a distant mentor of Sohial and well-known teacher Jeffrey Yuen, “the redemption of shen (spirit) from jing (matter)”.
This event was created by Sohial as a platform for uniting the very talented and experienced practitioners to provide an accessible global platform to connect, to share, to educate and upskill fellow health professionals in the services of mental health and wellness. To keep alive the classical traditions of our medicine whilst bridging the gap with current integrative therapies and sciences.

This workshop is definitely suited for both practitioners and students. In fact, many previous practitioners who had attended the last IIMHC were pleasantly surprised that the content was presented in a way that clearly explained some of the core fundamentals of Chinese Medicine on mental-health with an easy to understand and easy to integrate in clinical practice. You may check out the feedback testimonials.
The concepts covered in this series are primarily based on Chinese Medicine concepts with a background of Daoism, philosophy, human behaviour and psychological concepts.
